To resolve this message:

Note: These steps apply to Microsoft Windows 2000 and may vary for other Windows versions. Please refer to Windows Help for specific instructions for your version.

  1. If QuickBooks is open, exit the program.
  2. Open the Microsoft Windows Task Manager, select the file support.exe, and then click End Process.
  3. Close the Task Manager and run the update again:
    • If the update was downloaded from within QuickBooks, start QuickBooks and you will be prompted to install the update again.
    • If you downloaded the update from the QuickBooks Product Updates site, doubleclick the update file again to begin the installation.

If the message persists:

  1. In the Task Manager (see step 1 above), select the file qbupdate.exe, and then click End Process. Repeat this step for the file qbw32.exe.
  2. Close the Task Manager and run the update again (see step 2 above).

If the update still will not install, restart Microsoft Windows in Safe Mode and run the update again. Once the update is installed, restart your computer to return to normal operating functionality.

If you continue to experience problems installing the update, please contact QuickBooks Technical Support for assistance.
