Question:Why don't I have any icons on the desktop?
Possible
Cause:
You may have recently installed Microsoft Windows XP. The default setup for Windows XP has no icons.
Answer:

To add icons to your Windows XP desktop:

  1. Right-click the desktop and select Properties.
  2. Click the Desktop tab.
  3. Click Customize Desktop.
  4. Put a checkmark in the checkboxes for each of the desktop icons that you want.
  5. Click OK.
