  If you would like to use Merchant Services with Point of Sale, you need to use Point of Sale 6.0 and later. You can use this product alone on Windows Vista without any problems.

For the easiest and most efficient transition to Windows Vista, we strongly recommend using QuickBooks 2007 or later and other QuickBooks products built to work on Windows Vista. QuickBooks 2006 and earlier versions were developed and released before Windows Vista was introduced and will be adversely affected when running on this new operating system. If you decide to use QuickBooks 2006 or a prior version on a Windows Vista computer, you must be set up as a Windows Administrator and use QuickBooks in Windows XP-Compatibility Mode to help reduce the possibility of problems.* Even then, some features such as QuickBooks Payroll, QuickBooks Timer and Shipping Manager will not work.

* Important: this is an unsupported mode and Intuit does not recommend that you run QuickBooks 2006 or prior versions on Windows Vista. Individual users' experiences may vary, and users must proceed at their own risk.
