When attempting to Email an estimate the following error is returned:

"QuickBooks was unable to send your form for the following reason: QuickBooks cannot connect to the remote server because part of your company data is currently in use. data in use error, . Please try again later. data in use error, . If the problem persists, restart QuickBooks."

Why is this happening
This error can occur if the Estimate preference is not enabled within your QuickBooks company data file. data in use error, .
Detailed Instructions

To enable your company file's Estimate perference:

  1. Go to the Edit menu and click Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, click Jobs & Estimates in the list on the left.
  3. Click the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Set the "Do you Create Estimates?" preference to Yes.
  5. Click OK

Steps for QuickBooks Simple Start:

  1. Go to the File menu and click Preferences.
  2. Click Yes to indicate you create estimates.
