Error: "Data lost integrity" when creating a backup

What is happening

When creating a backup file, one of the following errors occurs:

  • Data lost integrity
  • Quickbooks has detected a problem with your data file. data error problem, run rebuild error, . Your data has not yet been backed up.
Why is this happening

When creating a backup of your company file, QuickBooks runs the Verify Data utility. data error problem, run rebuild error, . This prevents you from potentially overwriting a clean backup with a backup that contains data errors.

Note: Depending on the size of the company file, the Verify utility can take a while to complete. data error problem, run rebuild error, . As a result, the backup function may seem slow.

Detailed Instructions

If the Verify utility reports a data integrity error, run the Rebuild data utility:

  1. In QuickBooks, choose File > Utilities > Rebuild Data.
  2. If the verify still fails after a rebuild, examine the QBWin.log file for errors.
  3. To open the QBWin.log file:
    1. Press the F2 key on the keyboard to open the Product Information window.
    2. Press the F3 key to open the Tech Help window.
    3. Click the Open File tab.
    4. Select the QBWin.log file from the list of files, and then click Open File.
  4. If errors are found in the QBWin.log file, search the KnowledgeBase for the specific error code or message.

To modify the Complete Verification backup preference:

  1. In QuickBooks, choose File > Save Copy or Backup.
  2. Select Backup copy and click Next.
  3. Click Options.
  4. Select Complete verification, Quicker verification, or No verification (not recommended).

Important Note: Intuit highly recommends running the Verify utility at least once a week to identify potential data damage.
