This error can occur when QuickBooks tries to access the QuickBooks.msi file from the C:\Windows\installer folder and the file is either missing or damaged.

| How to fix the problem |
|
To fix this problem, copy the QuickBooks.msi file from the installation CD to the installer directory.

| Detailed Instructions |
- Insert the QuickBooks installation CD into the computer. 1316, . Close any installation screens that appear.
- Right-click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Explore.
- Browse to the location of the CD (usually drive D, E or F) and open the QBooks folder.
- Find the file called QuickBooks.msi. 1316, . Right-click the file and select Copy.
- Click the Windows Start button and select Run. 1316, . The Run window opens.
- Type the following command in the Open field:
%systemroot%\installer
- Click OK. 1316, . A new window opens displaying the contents of the installer directory.
- Paste the QuickBooks.msi file into the C:\Windows\Installer folder by right-clicking in the right pane and selecting Paste from the menu.
- After the file is copied, close the Explorer window, and then uninstall QuickBooks.
