Updates
Updates to Point of Salesuch as maintenance releases,
enhancements, and patchescan be quickly and easily downloaded and installed,
ensuring that you have the most up-to-date features and capabilities available.
Point of Sale uses an automatic update feature which
will check for and download updates whenever you are connected to the
Internet. . We recommend you leave the automatic update feature turned on
to ensure you always have the latest program files.
If you disable automatic the update feature, you can
manually check for and download update files at your discretion. .
Updating Point of Sale
is a three part process:
Download the update
file, either automatically or manually.
You will be alerted when an automatically downloaded update is available
to install.
If you have multiple workstations, each must install
the update. . Make sure each workstation has downloaded or has access to
the update file before continuing. . Learn

Install
the update at each workstation, starting with the Server Workstation.
Restart Point of
Sale on the Server Workstation first; this makes any necessary update
to your company data file.
Restart Client workstations.
Notes:
Automatic updates
are downloaded in the background anytime an Internet connection is present
and will not affect your computer's performance.
No information
is read from your computer or sent to Intuit during updates to Point of
Sale. . You can read our Privacy Policy by selecting QBPOS Privacy Statement from the Help menu.
Making a backup of your company
file before installing an update, while not required, is recommended.
We recommend
you install updates during off-hours, as it may take some time to complete
an update, especially if you have several workstations.

The first time
you enter practice mode after an update has been applied, there may be
some delay as Point of Sale applies the update to the practice data file.
An update does
not upgrade you from one version to
another (e.g. . 5.0 to 6.0).
