POS: Installing the Welch Allyn IT3220 Bar Code Scanner

Hardware Setup Wizard | Compatible Bar Code Scanners

It is strongly recommended that you use the Hardware Setup Wizard to configure your Point of Sale hardware. . You can access the setup wizard from the File menu and from individual hardware workstation preferences pages.

To install the credit card reader:

1. Make sure the Point of Sale installation disk is in your CD-ROM drive. . (Cancel the Installation Wizard if it launches.)

2. Launch Point of Sale.

3. Select Hardware Setup Wizard from the File menu.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect and setup your bar code scanner. .  What does the USB cable look like?

USB Connection

Connect the bar code scanner into an available USB port. No other setup is required.

PS/2 Connection

Both the Welch Allyn IT3220 Handheld Bar Code Scanner and, if used, theID Innovations MSR PS2 credit card reader, are installed between the keyboard and the computer.

The procedure and illustration below includes both of these pieces of hardware. . If you are installing only one of these pieces, just bypass the one not used.
