QuickBooks allows you to categorize information by classes. For a manufacturing or wholesale/distribution company this can be particularly useful for:

Using subclasses

If you want to break down your income and expenses even further, you can create subclasses. For example, if you sell for two different manufacturers, and each manufacturer carries two product lines, you can set up a class for the manufacturers and subclasses for their product lines:

  • Manufacturer1 (class)

    • LineA (subclass of Manufacturer1)

    • LineB (subclass of Manufacturer1)

  • Manufacturer2 (class)

    • LineC (subclass of Manufacturer2)

    • LineD (subclass of Manufacturer2)
