QuickBooks offers 2 ways to view and work with your online banking transactions:
Side-by-side mode, the redesigned online banking experience introduced in QuickBooks 2009.
Register mode, the online banking functionality and experience of QuickBooks 2008.
You can switch between online banking modes at any time.
You use forms built in to the Online Banking window to add or match transactions (checks, credit card charges, deposits, and so on).
Renaming rules (formerly aliases) are more flexible than with Register mode.
Renaming rules are created automatically.
You use the account register to add or match transactions (checks, credit card charges, deposits, and so on).
Aliases match names exactly.
You control when aliases are created.
Note: Renaming rules you create in side-by-side mode are not available in register mode, and aliases you create in register mode are not available in side-by-side mode.
To switch between online banking modes
Choose Edit > Preferences.
Click the Checking category, and then click the Company Preferences tab.
In the Online Banking section, click the mode option you want to use to enter downloaded transactions.
When you click OK, QuickBooks must close all open windows to switch modes. You will not lose any data when the switch is made.
