Get a payroll update

For QuickBooks to calculate your payroll taxes and provide payroll tax forms, you must sign up for QuickBooks Payroll and connect to the payroll service to get payroll updates. Internet access is required. We recommend that you connect to the payroll service each time you pay your employees (or at least every 45 days) to help ensure that you have the most current tax table available. Note for Assisted Payroll subscribers

To do this task

  1. Go to the Employees menu and click Get Payroll Updates.

  2. Click Update (or Download Latest Update, if you're a disk delivery customer) to download the payroll update.

    A progress bar appears indicating that the payroll update is downloading.

  3. To see the contents of the most recent update, click OK in the confirmation window or click the Payroll Update Info button.

  4. If necessary, close and then reopen QuickBooks.

To see the latest information on changes planned for future payroll updates, open the Payroll Center and check the Useful Links section.

  1. Go to the Employees menu and click Payroll Center.
