Create a payroll tax form

You must have an active Go onlinepayroll service subscription to create payroll tax forms in QuickBooks.

To do this task

  1. Go to the Select Payroll Form window.

    Go to the Select Payroll Form window.
  2. Select your form and filing period.

    Note: Before you prepare Form 940, be sure to Go onlinepay and record your SUI.

  3. Click OK.

    QuickBooks exports data into your form and opens the form in the Payroll Tax Form window. In a small number of forms, QuickBooks does not display any data until you first make a selection on the form, such as for a filing frequency. How QuickBooks calculates the amounts

    The amounts that appear on your tax form(s) are based on the total wages you pay out, which are tracked in QuickBooks by payroll items.

    Payment coupons: Forms that are payment coupons, also called payment vouchers or deposits, only display the amount of tax liability for the specified period. They do not take into account any payments you might have made.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

  5. Click Submit Form.

  6. In the Submit Form window, choose to either print or e-file the payroll tax form.
