Active QuickBooks Payroll customers can install updated federal and state tax tables and federal (for Standard and Enhanced Payroll) and state (for Enhanced Payroll) payroll forms downloaded from the service. To help ensure compliance with changing payroll tax withholding regulations, we strongly recommend that you maintain an active QuickBooks Payroll subscription.

If you do not maintain an active QuickBooks Payroll subscription, you cannot install and use payroll updates. You can, however, continue to use the last update you downloaded to process your payroll in QuickBooks for 45 days. Past this time, tax tables will not function in QuickBooks. This safeguard helps to ensure you are not using outdated tax tables and forms. We recommend that you keep an active payroll subscription at all times to receive updates as payroll regulation changes occur throughout the year.
