Pay stub

A summary of the information on a paycheck. Paystubs provide all the information required for a legal pay stub, including:

  • Employee's full name, address, and social security number

  • Pay period start and end dates

  • Salary or hourly rate, hours worked, and amount of pay for the pay period

  • Employee taxes

  • Deductions from and additions to wages

  • Taxable company contributions—for example, the taxable portion of company-paid group term life insurance

  • Federal and state allowances and exemptions

  • (Optional) Sick and vacation time used and available

  • Net pay

  • Year-to-date amounts for the preceding items
