Fix problems with 1099 vendor addresses

Problem: On the 1099 form, the vendor's name appears as part of the street address.

Cause: When you entered the vendor's name and address information in the New Vendor window, you changed the vendor's name after QuickBooks inserted the name into the Address block. For example, you may have entered the vendor's first name as "Jonathan" in the First Name field and shortened "Jonathan" to "Jon" in the Address block.

Solution:

  1. Find the vendor's address information in the Edit Vendor window. Click the Vendor Center, highlight the Vendor's name, right-click, and then click Edit Vendor.

  2. On the Address Info tab, edit the vendor's name so that what appears in the First Name, M.I., and Last Name fields exactly matches what appears in the Address block.

Problem: On the 1099 form, the vendor's name appears in an inappropriate format.

Cause: When you entered the vendor's name and address information in the New Vendor window, you left the Company Name, First Name, M.I., and Last Name fields blank. In this case, QuickBooks assumes that what you entered in the Vendor field is how the vendor's name should appear on the form. For example, if you entered "Luxton, Brian" in the Vendor field because your Vendor list is organized by last name, QuickBooks prints "Luxton, Brian" on the 1099 form.

Solution:

  1. Find the vendor's address information in the Edit Vendor window. Click the Vendor Center, highlight the Vendor's name, right-click, and then click Edit Vendor.

  2. On the Address Info tab, edit the vendor's name in the First Name, M.I., and Last Name fields.
