Inventory assembly build

An inventory assembly build is the act of assembling all of the inventory components in a Bill of Materials to add inventory assembly items to inventory. At the time of a build, the assembly components are deducted from inventory quantities and the quantity of that particular inventory assembly item is increased.

A Bill of Materials lists the quantity and character of materials, parts, and subassemblies that are required to produce or assemble a finished product. A Bill of Materials can include both component parts, in the form of inventory part and inventory assembly items, and the costs associated with building the assembly, in the form of service, non-inventory part, and "other charge" items.
