What's new in a product update

Product updates, also referred to as maintenance releases, prompt you to install the update when you first start QuickBooks. These updates are named using release numbers such as R2 or R3.

Determine what's new in product updates you're about to install

  1. Start (or close and reopen) QuickBooks to activate the update installation prompt.

    When an update is ready to be installed, you'll see a QuickBooks Update Service message prompting you to install the update now or later.

  2. Click the What's new in R(#)? link in the update message.

    The R(#) refers to the release of the update you're about to install.

  3. Review the page that opens for information about what's new in the update.

Determine what's new in the latest product update you've already installed

  1. Open the Update QuickBooks window.

    Go to the Help menu and click Update QuickBooks.

  2. Click the Update Now tab.

  3. In the Updates column, click the link labeled Maintenance Releases.

  4. Review the page that opens for information about what's new in the latest update installed.
