About the Timer

The Timer is a separate program that can run on its own without QuickBooks. When you use the Timer, you can:

  • Automatically track time spent on a task (click the Start button when you begin an activity and click the Stop button when you stop work). You can also enter the time worked after you have done the work.

  • Track time without running QuickBooks.

  • Give a copy of the Timer program to people whose work you want to track in QuickBooks (such as owners, partners, employees, or subcontractors).

    For example, you can install a copy of the Timer on each staff consultant's computer. This lets employees track their time at their desks as they work. After activities have been timed or entered in the Timer, you can transfer them to your QuickBooks company file. Then you can invoice clients for the time or pay employees for their work.
