Changing another user's password

Only the QuickBooks Administrator can do this.

To change a non-admin user's password

  1. Log in to the company file as the administrator.

  2. Go to the Company menu, click Set Up Users and Passwords, and then click Set Up Users.

  3. If prompted, enter your password again.

  4. In the User List, select the user whose password you want to change.

  5. Click Edit User.

  6. Enter the new password, first in the Password field and then in the Confirm Password field.

  7. Click Next twice and then click Finish.

When assigning a new password, try to use the complex password guidelines:

  • A complex password should contain:

    • At least seven characters (letters, numbers, special characters)

    • At least one number

    • At least one uppercase letter

  • Complex passwords should be changed every 90 days.
