Start or stop multi-user hosting

QuickBooks will prompt you as needed to set up a computer to host multi-user access to company files. However, if you need to start or stop hosting on a particular computer, you can do so in QuickBooks.

How can I find out whether my computer is already hosting multi-user access?

Go to the File menu and click Utilities. If your computer is already set up to host multi-user access, you will see the menu item Stop hosting multi-user access.

If you have installed the QuickBooks Server, refer to the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Note: Microsoft® Windows® administrator permissions are required to complete this task.

Starting hosting

  • Go to the File menu, choose Utilities, and then click Host multi-user access.

Stopping hosting

  • Go to the File menu, choose Utilities, and then click Stop hosting multi-user access.
