There are two ways to set up multi-user QuickBooks.
Recommended multi-user setup:
For the most reliable multi-user setup, Intuit recommends that you install QuickBooks or the QuickBooks Server on the
same computer as the company file and set up that computer to host multi-user
access to company files.
Does the recommended setup require an additional user license?
No additional license is required for the computer that contains the company
file, as long as the QuickBooks software on that computer is used only to host
multi-user access to the company file. Refer to your QuickBooks license agreement
for more information.
