Intuit Sync Manager overview

After you initially upload your QuickBooks data to certain Intuit online services, ongoing data syncs occur on a regular schedule to keep your QuickBooks data and online data the same. Use the Intuit Sync Manager to find the status of your latest QuickBooks data sync, manage sync frequency, and stop or start syncs at any time.

The first time you upload your QuickBooks data into an Intuit online service, the Intuit Sync Manager is installed in your system tray. This is usually located in the lower-right corner of your desktop.

What if I don't see the Sync Manager icon?

This is probably due to one of these reasons:

  • You've been invited to use your online service by your QuickBooks administrator.

    If this is the case, have your QuickBooks administrator handle and troubleshoot the sync process. All syncs will happen with the QuickBooks company file located on the administrator's computer. Only your administrator has the Sync Manager running on their machine, and the Sync Manager will appear only while the administrator is logged in to Windows.

  • You're logged into Windows as the QuickBooks administrator, but you haven't yet uploaded your QuickBooks data to an online service on this computer.

    If this is the case, do the following:

    1. Log in to QuickBooks as the administrator on the computer that remains on and connected to the Internet for ongoing syncs.

    2. In QuickBooks, open the company file you want to upload to your online service.

    3. Access your online service from QuickBooks.

    4. Sign in or create your Intuit Account, if prompted to do so.

    5. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up and connect your online service with QuickBooks.

      The Intuit Sync Manager is installed on your computer, and the Sync Manager icon appears in your system tray.

  • You previously exited the Intuit Sync Manager application.

    You should normally keep the Intuit Sync Manager running in your system tray so it can handle ongoing syncs, but if you've exited the Sync Manager, you can restart it in one of these ways:

    • In QuickBooks, open a company file enabled for sync. Then go to the Online Services menu, click Manage Services, and then click Intuit Sync Manager.

    • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Sync and double-click IntuitSyncManager.exe.

    • Reboot your computer.
