Save a backup copy

Use the Save Backup Copy window to tell QuickBooks where to save your backup. Be sure to remember where you save the file so you can find it later if you need to restore the backup.

To do this task

  1. (Optional) Change the filename that QuickBooks suggests for the backup. The file must have a .qbb extension.

  2. (Optional) Change the suggested location for the file.

  3. Click Save.

Important: If you choose to save the backup to a CD or DVD, QuickBooks saves the backup to a temporary CD/DVD burning folder, not the disc. After QuickBooks creates the backup, you'll need to burn the disc. How you do this depends on whether you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista, or Windows XP.
