Troubleshoot problems sending Accountant's Copy

File size and Internet speed limitations

Before you send the Accountant's Copy to your accountant using the Accountant's Copy File Transfer service, be aware of these limitations.

  • Your company file must be under 200 MB.

  • A dial-up connection may be too slow to send your file over the Internet.

If you are using a dial-up connection or your company file is over 200 MB, save the Accountant's Copy file to your local disk and deliver it to your accountant using another method such as CD or flash drive.

Troubleshooting tips

If you're having trouble sending the Accountant's Copy to your accountant using the Accountant's Copy File Transfer service, try these troubleshooting tips.

  • Check your Internet connection. If you are having Internet connection problems or the transfer of your file is taking too long (more than 15 minutes), save the Accountant's Copy file to your local disk and give it to your accountant using another method such as CD or flash drive.

  • Check your firewall settings. Your firewall settings may interfere with the way QuickBooks is connecting to the Accountant's Copy File Transfer service.

  • If your QuickBooks session ends while sending the Accountant's Copy file, the file transfer may not have completed before you quit. Try sending the Accountant's Copy again. (You may have to remove restrictions first.) Then leave QuickBooks open until you see a confirmation that the transfer is complete. (Note: If your QuickBooks session ends, an Accountant's Copy transfer file, .qby, may be left on your local disk. You can delete this file, but it causes no problems if you leave it.)
