Include boilerplate text on an estimate

If you have a lengthy contract that you ask all customers to sign and which contains details about your terms and guarantees, you'll find it easier to use a word processing program. If, however, you have only a few paragraphs you want your customers to read, you can create and memorize a special estimate template to store the text that you can print and attach to your detailed estimate.

To create a blank estimate with boilerplate text

  1. Go to the Lists menu and click Templates. Shortcut

  2. Click the Templates menu button at the bottom of the window and then click New.

  3. Click Estimate and then click OK.

  4. Click the Additional Customization button.

  5. Click the Columns tab and then click to clear all of the Screen and Print checkboxes except for the Description column.

  6. Delete the title in the Description column and click OK.

  7. Click the Open Form button at the bottom of the window (the new template is still selected).

  8. On the form, click in the Description field and enter the boilerplate text you want to appear on the estimate form.

  9. Go to the Edit menu and click Memorize Estimate.

  10. In the Memorize Transaction window, enter boilerplate text in the Name field, click Don't Remind Me, and then click OK.

To print the boilerplate estimate form

  1. Go to the Lists menu and click Memorized Transaction List.

  2. Double-click your memorized boilerplate estimate in the list.

  3. (Optional) You can change the date, estimate number, and customer name as needed, to match the current estimate you're preparing for the customer.
