Add a special section to printed forms

You can add sections, such as a remittance slip tear-off section or special instructions, to your printed forms.

Note: These special sections will show when printed (you can see them in the Preview window), but they do not show when you fill out the form onscreen.

For example, you can add a section at the top of the form that says, "Retain this portion of the statement for your records" and then add another section at the bottom of the form that says, "To ensure proper credit, detach and return this portion of the statement with your payment."

To do this task

  1. Open the Layout Designer.

"Open the Layout Designer window" goes here
  2. Click the Add button at the top of the form and then click Text Box.

  3. In the Text field, enter the text that will appear in the section on the form, and then do any of the following:

    • Add or change borders around the section.

To create a tear-off section, such as a remittance slip, clear all but the Bottom checkbox in the Border section and then select Dashed in the Pattern section.

    • Emphasize the section on the form by changing the font to a different size or color (if you will print the form on a color printer).

      Changing the font goes here
    • Change the placement of the text by moving the text within the text box.

      Repositioning text topic goes here
  4. Click OK to save your changes and close the Properties window.

  5. In the Layout Designer window, resize the new text box so that it's the same width as your page.

"Resizing objects on a form (Layout Designer)" goes here
  6. Move the text box to a new position on the form.

"Moving objects on the form (Layout Designer)" goes here
  7. Repeat for other sections to add to the form.

  8. Click OK to close the Layout Designer window.

  9. Your changes appear in the Preview section of the Additional Customization window. To see a larger image of the form, click the Print Preview button.

Note: These changes show only when you print the form—not onscreen.

  10. Click OK to close the Additional Customization window.
