Add background (fill) color to a printed form

You can use background (fill) color to emphasize certain fields on a printed form. For example, you can:

  • Add background color to your company name on the printed form.

  • Create a drop shadow for a field by layering one color on top of another and offsetting the top field.

Note: These changes show when printed (you can see them in the Preview window), but they do not show when you fill out the form onscreen.

To do this task

  1. Open the Layout Designer.

"Open the Layout Designer window" goes here
  2. Double-click the object to which you want to add the background color.

  3. In the Properties window, click the Background tab.

  4. Select the Fill Background checkbox and then click the Background Color field.

  5. In the Change Color window, click the color to use and then click OK.

  6. Click OK to close the Properties window.

The background color shows in the Layout Designer window.

  7. (Optional) To move the object in front of or in back of another object on the printed form:

    1. Single-click and then right-click the object to move.

    2. Choose Order, and then click Bring Forward (to move the object in front of another object on the form) or Send Backward (to move the object behind another object).

  8. Click OK to close the Layout Designer window.

  9. Your changes appear in the Preview section of the Additional Customization window. To see a larger image of the form, click Print Preview.

Note: These changes show only when you print the form—not onscreen.

  10. Click OK to close the Additional Customization window.
