Printed checks aren't collating correctly

If you print multiple copies of a set of checks, you can select the Collate checkbox in the Print Checks or Print Paychecks window to print the checks in complete sets.

Say you want to print a set of 4 different checks, with 3 copies of each check.

If you don't select Collate, your checks should print in this order:

  • 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4

If you select Collate, your checks should print like this:

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4

If your checks are not printing as described, it might be because your printer ignores the QuickBooks collate setting. You may need to set the collate option directly through the printer or printer driver. In this case, check with your printer manual or system administrator to set the collate option.
