What's the difference between a customer and a job?
In QuickBooks, a customer is anyone who pays you for goods or services. A
job is a specific project or scope of work that you want to track.
If you do only one job for each customer, you can store job information with the rest of the information for each customer. In that case, your Customers & Jobs list will contain only entries for customers.
However, if you do multiple jobs for a customer, or if you want to keep track of your
income and expenses on a job-by-job basis, you should create subentries for your customers, each containing information about a job that you want to track. In this case, your Customers & Jobs list will be a hierarchical list of both customers and their jobs.
What if a customer is also a vendor?
Can I remove a customer or job?
What do the icons in the Customers & Jobs list mean?
The icon identifies whether a customer or job has overdue or almost due invoices:
You can customize the number of days QuickBooks uses for overdue and almost due invoices.
