Copy a budget to a new year

To do this task

  1. Go to the File menu, choose Utilities, choose Export, and then click Lists to .IIF Files.

  2. In the Export window, choose Budgets.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Enter a filename, such as budget.iif.

    The filename must have an .iif extension.

  5. Open the budget.iif file with a spreadsheet editor, such as Microsoft Excel.

  6. Change the year in the column "STARTDATE."

  7. Save the changes.

  8. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu, choose Utilities, choose Import, and then click IIF Files.

  9. Select the budget.iif file in which you changed the date.

    1. Go to the Company menu, choose Planning and Budgeting, and then click Set Up Budgets.

    2. Click Create New Budget.

    3. Select the year and type of the new budget. Except for the year, be sure that the criteria matches the budget that you want to copy.

    4. Select Create budget from previous year's actual data.

    5. Click Finish.

    QuickBooks automatically enters the monthly totals from last year for each account in the budget.
