Set up a reorder point and have QuickBooks remind you to order inventory

You would like to see a reminder from QuickBooks when you are low on inventory parts, and that they need to be reordered.

Solution Description
Start off by having the preferences in QuickBooks correctly setup to show the reminders:
 
  1. Go to Edit and choose Preferences
  2. In the Preferences window choose Reminders
  3. On the My Preferences tab click the box to Show Reminders List When Opening a Company File
  4. Click the Company Preferences tab

 

 

      5. In the list of reminders go to Inventory to Reorder and select Show list
      6. Click OK
 
Make sure the inventory item itself has been given a reorder point:
 
  1. Go to Lists and choose Item list
  2. Choose an existing Inventory Item or create a new one if needed
  3. Toward the button of the Inventory Item screen you will see an Inventory Information section
  4. Here there will be an option for Reorder Point
 
 
      5. Enter the appropriate amount at which you want to be reminded to reorder
      6. Click OK
 
When the inventory item reaches the reorder point, the next time you open the file you will see a reminders list with the items that need to be reordered.
