In a company file with Multiple Currencies enabled you may see a message when trying to update exchange rates:
The system time must be within 5 minutes of internet time, please adjust your computers time setting and retry.
Most computers are set to synchronize time from a public or government Network Time Protocol (NTP) Server. They can, at times, get out of sync and you may need to point to a different time server.
This is not a QuickBooks Desktop issue per se and will need to be addressed by an IT professional. If the computers are part of a domain then the Primary Domain Controller (PDC) will need to have that adjustment made there.
To change time servers:
The time should change and be within the 5 minute grace period to synchronize with the Currency Update service.
Note: If you do NOT see an Internet Time tab then it's likely that a Domain Controller is involved and the IT dept will need to address it on a server level.
