Error: BAD REQUEST, when signing in to your Merchant Account in POS 2013

When trying to sign in to the merchant account in QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013, you see the error "BAD REQUEST."

Why this is happening

There is a special character in your password. 

How to fix it

Reset your password and create a new one that does not have a special character.

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. Click the Can't access your account link.
  3. Click I forgot my password.
  4. Enter the email address you use to sign in and click Continue.
  5. Answer the security question and click Continue.
  6. Enter a new password without any special characters, confirm the password, and then click Continue. A password reset email will be sent to your email address.
  7. Open the password reset email, click the Log in to confirm new password link, and sign in to the Merchant Service Center with your new password.
  8. In Point of Sale, choose File > Setup Interview and then click the Payments tab. Sign in again using your new credentials.
