Automatic Sync Options are not available or are being controlled by Intuit

You attempt to set the Automatic Sync Options for Intuit Sync Manager or switch to manual sync.

The options are unavailable and the following message displays:

These settings are being temporarily controlled by Intuit.

Why this is happening

Typically this occurs for one of the following reasons:

  • The company file you are working on is stored on a different computer from the one that is set up to sync with Intuit Sync Manager. 
  • The QuickBooks User set up to work with Intuit Sync Manager does not have read permissions on the system. 

In this situation, anytime you attempt to sync the file the system will attempt to re-upload the entire file from scratch and this can take significant time and degrade performance.  Therefore, when this issue is detected, the Intuit servers may control when the file is able to sync (to mitigate performace issues).

 

 

How to fix it

If your file is not syncing due to a permissions issue, please see Set Windows access permissions to share company files.
 

If your file is not syncing because the company file you are working on is stored on a different computer from the one that is set up to sync, [TBD].
