Error: QODBC Evaluation License has Expired, when opening QODBC

When going to File > Utilities > Configure QODBC, you see the following error even though you have the read-only version of the driver: 

Error: QODBC Evaluation license has expired
Why this is happening

A conflicting driver has been installed and QuickBooks is reading that the license has expired.  Just reinstalling the driver does not reset this in the system. 

How to fix it
  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Click the Windows Start button, choose Control Panel, and then select Programs and features.
  3. Select QODBC and then click Uninstall.
    Important: If you do not see QODBC on the programs list:
    1. Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Open Windows Explorer.
    2. Navigate in the left window to the following location:
      • 32-bit: C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions XX\Components\QODBC
      • 64-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions XX\Components\QODBC
    3. Double-click the file UNWISE32.exe.
    4. Select Automatic and then click Next.
    5. Click Finish.
  4. Click the Back button in Windows Explorer to return to the Components folder.
  5. Right-click the QODBC folder and choose Rename. Rename it to QODBC-OLD.
  6. Open QuickBooks and then choose File > Utilities > Set Up QODBC.
