Different display of memos on detail reports in QuickBooks Desktop

When you run a report such as a Transaction by Account Report, you see the Memo Field from the transaction override the details memos or descriptions from the transactions.  These transactions can include: checks, deposits, sales receipts, invoices and more.

For example, you create a check, entered a memo in the check area and in the Expense tab, you enter additional memos.  When you click Ctrl +Y to open the Transaction by Account Report, the report shows the memo from the check and not the details.

Detailed instructions

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for QuickBooks 2014.

Update to the latest release:

  1. Inside of QuickBooks 2014, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks.
  2. Click on the Update Now tab.
  3. Scroll down and make sure Critical Fixes is selected (you should not be able to uncheck it, but just to be sure it is selected).
  4. Click Get Updates.
  5. When the update is complete, close the Update QuickBooks window, then close the program.
  6. Re-open the program and the issue should now be resolved.
  7. If the issue is still occurring, reboot your computer, then repeat steps 1-6 above.
