Barcode Scanning still works when "Inventory & Purchase Orders" preference is disabled

Barcode Scanning still functions when the "Inventory & Purchase Orders" preference is disabled which should also disable the Advanced Inventory settings that contains the barcode scanning feature.

Why this is happening

Using the Advanced Inventory Barcode Wizard feature creates barcodes for the item list items you designate. If barcodes were created for such items as service items and non-inventory part items, in order to accommodate these other item types, the barcode features will still work for those other items even when the "Inventory and purchase orders are active" preference is disabled.

How to fix

The user will need to disable the barcode preference in order to stop the barcode scanning feature. They can change the preference as follows:

To enable/disable the barcode preference:

  1. From the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. In the left pane, choose Items & Inventory then go to the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Put a checkmark on the Inventory & purchase orders are active box.
  4. Click the Advanced Inventory Settings button.
  5. On the  Advanced Inventory Settings window, click the Barcode tab.
  6. Uncheck the Enable barcode scanning box and click OK.
  7. Uncheck the Inventory & purchase orders are active box and click OK.

This will reset the preferences to what you need.
