The Fixed Asset Name/Number changed to the Purchase Description

The Fixed Asset Name/Number on the item list changed to the Purchase Description after updating from Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).

Why this is happening

If the Asset Name/Number is different than the Purchase Description, the Asset Name/Number will be replaced with the Purchase Description after updating from Fixed Asset Manager to QuickBooks.

How to fix it

The purchase description on the Fixed Asset Item is used by the Fixed Asset Manager when importing Fixed Asset Items from QuickBooks.  Editing the Asset Synchronization Options in Fixed Asset Manager will prevent the purchase description from updating the Asset Name/Number in QuickBooks IF it is done prior to closing the Fixed Asset Manager.

  1. Open Fixed Asset Manager, select QuickBooks from the File menu.
  2. Select  Asset Synchronization Options....
  3. Click on the To QuickBooks tab
  4. Select the radio button for Manually by selecting "Update Assets from QuickBooks" in the QuickBooks menu.
  5. Click OK to save.

Any items that have been changed prior to editing the synchronization options will need to be updated manually in QuickBooks.
