Error: There is no disk in the drive: Please insert a disk into drive\Device\harddisk\Dr1

When starting computer or trying to open QuickBooks Desktop, the following error can occur:

There Is No Disk in the Drive. Please Insert a Disk into Drive \Device\harddisk\Dr1

Why this is happening
  • This error may occur because of Drive letter mismatch especially if there is a floppy disk drive.
  • You have a removable drive, such as an Iomega Zip drive, configured as drive letter C.
  • Windows Updates need to be installed.
How to fix it

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

Note:  This error has been identified as a Microsoft issue and is not caused by Intuit or their software.
