Duplicate transactions appear in the Bank Feeds Center

You download transactions from your financial institution in QuickBooks Desktop and you see the same transactions listed more than once. 

Why this is happening

This issue can be caused by possible damage in:

  • QuickBooks bank account setup for online access
  • Company file
  • Lists
  • Data from your financial institution
How to fix it
  1. Basic Data Damage troubleshooting.
  2. If the issue keeps happening, merge the existing online banking account with a new account.
    1. Make a backup of your company file.
    2. Go to the Chart of Accounts, right click the problem account then select Edit Account.
    3. Highlight the Account Name, then click Copy.
    4. At the end of the account name, enter an asterisk (*).
    5. Click the Bank Feeds tab, select Deactivate All Online Services, then click Save & Close.
    6. In the Chart of Accounts, create a new account.
    7. Paste the Account name with the asterisk (*).
    8. Close and reopen the company file.
      1. Go to Chart of Accounts, right click the problem account then select Edit Account.
      2. Remove the asterisk, then click Save & Close.
      3. Click Yes when prompted by the Merge warning dialog box.
    9. Set up Online Banking for that account.
    10. Download transactions to the new merged account.
