When opening a company file, you see the following error:
Cannot communicate with the company file due to firewall.
This can be caused by any of the following:
Select and follow the instructions for one of the update options:
If you already have the latest release and the error persists, continue to step 2.
If your firewall or other security software has been configured and the error persists, continue to step 3.
If your permissions to access the company file or folder are set up correctly and the error persists, continue to step 4.
Note: If you don't see the QuickBooks Database Server Manager in the Programs list, you might have to uninstall QuickBooks and reinstall it, selecting the second option I'll be using QuickBooks on this computer, AND I'll be storing our company file here so it can be shared over our network.
If you scanned the folder and the error persists, continue to step 5.
In a network environment, the computer (server) with the QuickBooks Database Server Manager installed needs to be the only computer with the hosting feature turned on. Scanning the company files turns hosting on.
