Intuit Sync Manager error: There was an error loading the file from path...

When attempting to perform a data sync with Intuit Sync Manager the error appears:

Why this is happening

The file that was set up to sync is in a different location than the file that is currently open, or Intuit Sync Manager has a damaged or missing program file

How to fix it

Check to file location under the Product Information Screen (F2):

 Check the file location in the Sync Manager Dialog Box:

If they are not the same, reset the Sync Manager. If they are the same continue with the following steps:

Rename the Intuit Sync Manager folder:

  1. Exit all QuickBooks that are accessing your company file
  2. Exit Intuit Sync Manager by right clicking the Sync Manager icon in the System Tray and select Exit Sync Manager
  3. Locate the SyncManager folder and rename it to SyncManager.old: Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Intuit\SyncManager

  4. Start QuickBooks and open Intuit Sync Manager - Sync Manager will automatically recreate the SyncManager folder
  5. Click Sync Now to sync your company data
