White screen displays in place of list of backup files for Intuit Data Protect

You attempt to use Intuit Data Protect, however a white screen displays in place of the list of backup files.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

Solution 1: Use the IDP Cleaner Tool.

Before you run the tool:

  • Ensure you know your IDP log in credentials. You will be asked to log in to IDP again after you run the tool.
  • End all IDP Processes:
    1. Open Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL)
    2. Click the Processes tab.
    3. Click the Image Name column to arrange the services alphabetically.
    4. Find and end the following processes: IntuitDataProtect.exe, IBUenghost.exe and QBIDPService.exe
    5. If you find any of the above processes, end the process, otherwise close Task Manager.


If you continue to experience the issue after using the tool, proceed to Solution 2.


Solution 2:
Clear Internet Explorer’s cache and temporarily disable your anti-virus software.

For information about configuring your security software, please check the manufacturer’s website and add the following for exceptions:

  • C:\Program Files(X86)\Common Files\Intuit
  • C:\Program Files(X86)\Intuit


If you continue to experience the issue, proceed to Solution 3.


Solution 3:
Create a New Windows User account

After creating a New Windows User account, set-up IDP again.
