When running the Batch Upgrade Utility within the QuickBooks File Manager, the user receives:
QuickBooks File Manager cannot upgrade files while QuickBooks is still running. Close QuickBooks and try again.
This message can occur if any version of QuickBooks is open. If you do not have any versions of QuickBooks Desktop open, it is caused by a process that is running in the background.
Note: QuickBooks Desktop is setup as a startup item, by default. If you wish to turn this preference off, you can do the following:
