Error: Could not print to printer, or memory crash dump message, when emailing customer statements

When emailing a large number of customer statements, you may see:

  • Error: Could not print to printer
  • A crash dump error, followed by the computer restarting
  • Windows 7: The computer restarts without an error
  • Error: Not enough memory
How to fix it

Email statements in smaller batches by selecting customers manually:

  1. Run a Customer Balance Summary report to get a list of customers with open balances.
  2. To prevent the error, select a few customers from your list at a time (about 10-20 customers).
  3. Email the statements to those customers.
  4. Now click to clear the checkboxes from those customers and select the next 10-20.
  5. Continue this process until all customers have been emailed.

Important: This issue is caused by the computer memory being used up by the program very quickly. It's recommended that you restart QuickBooks after every 3 or 4 batches to make sure that the memory is being released.
