No icon loads or nothing happens when you try to activate or launch Intuit Data Protect

When you try to activate or launch Intuit Data Protect, no icon loads or nothing happens.

How to fix it
  1. Ensure your version of QuickBooks is on the latest update.
  2. Verify that you are on the latest release of Intuit Data Protect.
  3. Restart the IDP services.
    1. Right-click the Intuit Data Protect icon in the system tray and choose Exit Intuit Data Protect.
    2. Click the Windows Start button and select Run.
      Note: If you do not see the Run command, try simultaneously pressing the Windows logo and R keys to open the Run window.
    3. In the text field, enter Services.msc. Press Enter.
    4. Find and double-click QBIDPService.exe.
    5. In the General tab, find the Startup type section and choose Automatic.
    6. Click Stop and Start to restart the service.
    7. Click Apply then OK.
  4. Open QuickBooks and launch IDP again.
