QuickBooks Business Planner: Preview button is grayed out, frozen or you received an error

When trying to preview a business plan, the button is grayed out, QuickBooks business planner is freezing or you get the error messages:

There was a problem printing to the specified device or the print job was cancelled. Please check settings and re-try.

FPDF-Can't load document

Why this is happening

When you preview a business plan, the QuickBooks PDF Converter is used to create the .pdf file that is displayed. However, QuickBooks Desktop does not  install the QuickBooks PDF Converter by default.

If the driver files are missing, then Business Planner cannot create the .pdf files for the business plan.

How to fix it

To fix the issue, you need to install the converter manually.

32-bit Operating System:

  1. Download the PDF driver installation file, saving to a location you can easily find again.
  2. Double-click the Install.exe file to install the PDF Converter.
  3. Open QuickBooks Business Planner and preview your business plan.

NOTE: This may take a little while the first time you do it.

64-bit Operating System:

  1. Close all versions of QuickBooks.
  2. Right-click the Taskbar, and select Start Task Manager.
  3. Highlight the QuickBooks services and click End Process.

NOTE: Some services may be listed multiple times, you will need to end those processes.

  4. Download the PDF driver installation file and save it to a location you can easily find again.
  5. Double-click the install.exe to install the PDF Converter.
  6. Restart Computer
  7. Open QuickBooks Business Planner and Preview your business plan.
