When installing or updating QuickBooks Desktop or using Financial Statement Designer, you see the following message:
Error 1311. Source file not found [filename]. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
If you are installing or updating QuickBooks desktop, this error can be caused by an issue with the CD drive or the disk.
If you are using Financial Statement Designer, your version of Microsoft Office is incompatible or, the installation of Microsoft Office is damaged.
If you are installing QuickBooks Desktop
Note: If you are using an installation CD and you don't have Internet connection, please skip to solution 2.
Download the QuickBooks Desktop installer from support site.
Note: If you receive an error while copying these files, there may be an issue with your CD drive or the CD itself. Try Installing QuickBooks on connected computers from one CD drive. If you continue to receive errors copying from the CD on a second computer, the CD might be damaged. Contact Customer Service about obtaining a replacement disk.
If you are using Financial Statement Designer
You might see this message if:
Windows 10, 8, 7 and Vista
Note: If you do not see Microsoft Office2003 or later, you must install Microsoft Office to use Financial Statement Designer.
