When opening QuickBooks in Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008, a message is received explaining that security settings are too high, followed by a prompt to allow QuickBooks to make the necessary changes; QuickBooks will then try to add the necessary sites to the Trusted Sites list within Internet Explorer.
One of the sites that QuickBooks tries to add is "intu-help-qb3://", at which point the following error is received:
"you have entered an invalid wildcard sequence"
This may be caused by a conflict with Windows Enhanced Security Configuration (ESC). This is an additional security tool in place on Windows Server operating systems.
A workaround for this issue is to disable the Enhanced Security for Administrators only.
