Locate files or folders on a Mac

This article guides you in locating files and/or folders in your Mac.

Detailed instructions
Use Spotlight (equivalent to Search button in Windows) to locate a file or folder:
  1. Click Spotlight (or press Command-Space Bar).
  2. Start typing the name or the extension of the file or folder you want to find. Immediately, a list will be populated underneath Spotlight.  
  3. Click to open the file or folder you are looking for.
  4. If a lot of results are found, Spotlight will not show you all of them in the list populated. To see all of the files, click Show All and a Finder window will open with all the files or folders in it.
